Register “.au” domain or risk a costly battle later on.

.au is an all-new domain name extension for the Australian domain name space.  It will allows any business, organisation or individual with a proven connection to Australia the ability to register a shortened .au direct domain name – for example www.dgbs.au instead of www.dgbs.com.au

Businesses that already have a “.com.au” domain can priority register for their shortened .au domain before 9:59am AEST on 21 September 2022 or risk it going to someone else.  If you don’t register your shortened .au domain by the deadline it will become available for general purchase at 8am AEDT on 4 October.

Fighting over domain names isn’t fun!  Once a domain name is registered it can be time consuming and costly to get it back, especially if opportunistic cyber criminals or web-name “squatters” get the rights to it, so spending between $25-$50 to register your .au domain now is definitely money well spent.

If you don’t already have a registrar that manages your current domain name, you can find accredited registrars for registering your .au domain name here.

If you have any questions about why registering a .au domain name would benefit your business, please get in touch with us.
